Six String Conspiracy is made up of three guys who have been playing music for over 35yrs each. Steve Andrest is a multi-talented individual on guitar, bass, keyboard, lap slide, banjo, mandolin, and violin. John Sea is a fine guitarist and bass player who always has fun doing his thing on both. Donivan is a drummer with a wide variety of styles to pick from and is very versatile in playing our music, anything from "Kansas" to "ZZ Top". All have been playing together for a while and, yet, they have just begun. Steve is just as comfortable flatpicking a smoking version of Friend of the Devil, as laying down some thick delta blue slide. John will come up with Louvin Brothers one minute and Robert Cray the next. Donivan is a true mixture of the 60's, '70's and '80's musical rythyms on the drums; Whether it's "Crazy Train", a funky blues mix, or light weight accoustic flourshes, those Ludwigs and
Zildjian Titaniums really make the sound. All three musicians combine their vocals as well, lead or harmony. The common link is americana and roots music, combined with a love of Classic Rock, and smokin' Blues; plus Six String Conspiracy is a live band with a live sound. Interacting with the audience, getting the energy going, and getting a groove on. And Six String DOES take requests, a engergenic version of Under the Boardwalk broke out in the middle of the third set a few weeks ago. And our friends sit in with us too. Donna from Echo Moon will lend her voczls and David Hicks, Tube Guy par excellence, ripped out some great lead a short while back. Six String has a great acoustic set that includes Bluegrass, Blues, Folk classics and then put some high engery Classic Rock to full up the dance floor.
We go from Power Trio to acoustic warriors at the drop of a hat. Lot's of classic rock, blues, psychedelic, a little bluegrass thrown in, and lot's of improvisation. We've played roadhouses to churches, festivals and livingrooms. Come hear the band!
Our roots are deep and our influences are wide: lot's of different styles of music are woven into our dna. Our philosophy is there are a lot of cover bands around (and juke boxes), we make everything our own. If you want the record, get out your 25 cents. If you want a band that reacts to the audience and can turn on a dime, we're your guys!
