Sorta. It is an explanation given again and again, but the name says it all. The music isn\'t alt-country, roots rock or pop. Its sorta all of those things. With songs about love, birth, loss, loneliness and murder, Sorta encompasses everything under the sun.
Members of Sorta have played with the New Bohemians, Olospo, and many other great bands.
Sorta was named Best Act Overall for 2006 by the Dallas Observer.

Shanghai 5 Dark, whimsical, and beautiful songs. Shanghai 5 is a wild and fantastic variety show, featuring the chanteuse styling of Amy Curnow, who narrates us through a cinematic under world.
Shanghai 5 often matches their set with vaudeville inspired shows including, one-man bands, comedy, feats of strength, theatrical drama, film, Or they might enjoy a downtempo set, backed up by a few dry martinis.
Variety, curiosity, and a sense of adventure rule the group, landing them in the most interesting situations; playing divebars one night, and the Flamingo Hotel next. Shanghai 5 made it to 39 on the CMJ college charts earlier this year, and have entertained political and media action events, as well as raising money for HIV awareness with Erykah Badu. Look for Shanghai 5 on the next season of PBS \'Roadtrip Nation\' as they interview people on the fringe of music, writing, art, and activism.
Members of the band have recently located to OKC.
