Red Bud Revival
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
The son of a burlesque dancer and a traveling salesman, Luke Dick naturally finds plenty to write and sing about. But the combination of broken homes, as well as a country-class upbringing in rural southwestern Oklahoma creates a unique perspective in this young singer/songwriter. But, far from limited, Luke's songs run the gamut, from hopeless tales of the disenfranchised to hopeful songs about all that is beautiful. Luke's work ethic took him from red dirt poor to educated country-man, and that raw grit combined with an uncanny wit and education produce something very special. I asked Luke about his very unusual concoction of a life as a maintenance man, forklift driver, philosophy student, philosophy teacher, and songwriter/performer. Grinning, Luke says, "I guess I'm city in a country kinda way." --by C. R. Howard
