Jeremy Castle

Jeremy Glen Castle (August 2, 1974), also referred to musically as J.G. Castle, is an American country music singer and songwriter from Oklahoma. He is known for his tremendous talent as a songwriter and for several popular recordings of his own original music. He is also popular for his finger-style picking on the accoustic guitar.
Jeremy Castle was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Castle, who was born second of two sons, was raised in Blanchard, Oklahoma. His is father was a both a college baseball coach and a high school principal. His mother was an elementary and high reading school teacher. During Jeremy Castle's senior year, he was a 1992 Class 2-A All-State defensive end as well as a Daily Oklahoman Blue Chip player for the 1992 football team at Blanchard High School. Jeremy Castle played tight-end and defensive end in football, left field in baseball, and was a post in basketball, as well as ran track at Blanchard High School, where he graduated from in 1993. He grew up listening to the sound of traditional country artists such as Merle Haggard, George Jones, and George Strait. Castle began learning to play guitar from Charlie Archer, former lead guitarist for Conway Twitty.
He began writing his own music and performing while a college student, playing football on a scholarship to play defensive back at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Castle later transfered to East Central University in Ada to play first base for the E.C.U. Tiger baseball team, where he continued in his spare time to practice the skills of playing guitar and writing songs under the professional stage name of J.G. Castle. Castle, who credits his playing ability to lots of disciplined practice, creativity, and hard work as opposed to natural skill, was also a resident assistant at E.C.U.'s Pesagi Hall and practiced guitar for extended periods of time, even up to ten continuous hours at times. Castle graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma in May 1997. Castle later earned a Masters degree in Adult Education from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma in May 2005. Castle is a strong supporter of education as well as a proponent for children's literacy.
Jeremy Castle got his start promoting his music by performing throughout the states of Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas during the 1990's by singing in venues such as the legendary Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma City's Diamond Ballroom and Wormy Dog Saloon, former legendary saloon-dancehall Tumbleweed's in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Nashville establishments such as The Bluebird Cafe and the world famous Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, the popular Billy Bob's Texas in Fort Worth, Stubbs B-B-Q in Austin, as well as the historic Gruene Hall in Gruene, Texas, and also performing at Branson venues such as the former Barbara Fairchild Theater.
Because he promoted his music while working as a full-time firefighter, Jeremy Castle was jokingly coined the nickname "The Singing Fireman" by Oklahoma City's KKNG 93.3.FM on-air personality James Ayers, who was the first to play Castle's self-penned tune entitled "Take My Ring Off Your Finger" in 1999. In 2002, Jeremy Castle released an album entitled "For A While", which consists of 17 self-penned songs. All of Castle's studio recordings consist of songs he has written himself. Castle gained national recognition when he wrote a promotional jingle in an effort to bring attention to the historic Oklahoma City Stockyards district. Castle also receives a fair amount of airplay in Europe, where he has built a large worldwide fanbase through airplay and strong internet promotion of his music. Castle's "You Ain't Met My Girl" is one of YouTube's most popular country music videos.
